Why Three Trees?
What’s in a name? Find out why I call my career coaching practice “Three Trees Careers.”
The name Three Trees Careers is inspired by a Vietnamese proverb we discovered at the time my husband and I were adopting our only child, our son, Eli Huynh, in Vietnam: “One tree cannot make a mountain; three trees rooted close together form a tall mountain.”
In my coaching practice, one tree is you, the client; the second tree is me, the coach; and the third tree is a friend or loved one that I recommend you enlist as a source of encouragement and accountability.
The notion of three trees making a mountain also reflects the socially-minded ethos that guides my clients and the work they seek. I believe that by collaborating, whether in career coaching or solving the world’s problems, we can make great progress.
